Frontal 101: 13x4 vs. 13x6 – What is the Difference?

by HyIMPACT Support on Nov 13, 2025

The Ultimate Frontal Guide: Which Size Should You Choose?

If you are shopping for a new wig or weave, you have definitely heard the term frontal. It is the gold standard for a natural-looking hairline. But then comes the confusing part: numbers. 13x4, 13x6... what do they mean, and does it really matter?

At Exclusive Virgin Hair, we believe an educated customer is a happy customer. Today, we are decoding the mystery of the lace frontal so you can pick the perfect unit for your style.

What is a Lace Frontal?

A lace frontal is a hairpiece that recreates the hairline from ear to ear. The standard width is 13 inches, which covers the entire front of your head. This allows you to part your hair anywhere across the front, unlike a closure which restricts you to a small box in the center.

13x4 vs. 13x6: The Deep Dive

The numbers refer to the size of the lace.

  • The "13": The width across your forehead (Ear to Ear).

  • The "4" or "6": The depth of the parting space back into your head.

The 13x4 Frontal (The Standard)

This is the most common option. You get 4 inches of parting space back from your hairline.

  • Pros: More affordable and looks incredibly natural for most styles.

  • Cons: You can’t do very deep, long parts.

  • Best For: Everyday styles, side parts, and bangs.

The 13x6 Frontal (The Deep Part)

This is the luxury upgrade. You get 6 inches of parting space.

  • Pros: Incredible versatility. You can do very deep middle parts or complex braided styles at the front. It mimics a full head of hair more convincing.

  • Cons: Slightly more expensive due to the extra lace and hand-tied hair.

  • Best For: Half-up half-down styles and deep, dramatic parting.

Why Quality Matters

Not all lace is created equal. A cheap frontal will have thick knots that look like black dots on your forehead. Our Full Frontal Wigs use high-quality Swiss or HD lace that is thin, durable, and melts into your skin. Whether you are looking for a frontal weave installation or a grab-and-go wig, the quality of the lace determines how "real" it looks.

Which One Is Right For You?

  • Choose a 13x4 if you want a natural look on a budget and usually wear your hair down or in a simple side part.

  • Choose a 13x6 if you love experimenting with styling, deep parts, or want maximum breathability.
